RPCVs of Gulf Coast Florida were invited to participate in the Newtown Nation Big Mama Collard Greens Festival on Saturday, October 16. This annual event attracts hundreds of people, mostly African-Americans, from the area. They all enjoyed great collard greens from multiple vendors and lots of soul food, a DJ who kept the music going all day. We met many people who were interested in Peace Corps and RPCVs who learned about our group for the first time. Though the weather was very hot, we all enjoyed that sense of camaraderie that always happens around Peace Corps events.
